National Child Health Day

October 1, 2025 by julie.ommert

Celebrate Child Health Day: Simple Steps for a Healthier Future

Eat Smart:
Take a day to focus on healthy eating habits. Show kids that nutritious food can be both delicious and fun! Offer a colorful variety of fruits like apples, strawberries, grapes, watermelon, bananas, or peaches. Add a bit of peanut butter to apple slices to introduce them to protein-rich snacks. Use the opportunity to explain how these foods provide the vitamins and nutrients they need to grow strong and stay energized—unlike many packaged snack options.

Get Outdoors:
Spending time outside is great for physical and mental health. Take advantage of the season’s cooler weather and beautiful scenery—visit a local park, forest preserve, botanical garden, or lake. Simple activities like collecting leaves or identifying trees can make outdoor time fun and educational.

Schedule Regular Check-Ups:
Preventive care is essential to your child’s overall well-being. Make sure they’re up to date on regular medical and dental check-ups to support their long-term health and development.
